Grandma’s Back to Basics All Natural More than a Cookbook, Teresa Thompson

Teresa Thompson grew up with many food allergies and wanted to share her recipes for others who may have the same problem. I was under the impression that each recipe would have a section of tips (or hints as it is listed in the book). Sort of like grandma was standing beside you as you prepared the dish and to guide you. This wasn’t the case. The hints are sparsely scattered in the book and I didn’t receive ‘grandma’s gems’ that I hoped for.

Most of the recipes are desserts and sugar items and it seems as an afterthought the main dishes were added to the last chapter. Personally, I wouldn’t have purchased this book for its recipes, I like to look at photos of the completed dish, which this has none.

Finally, the book needs an editor – with poor grammar, punctuation and assorted issues that may make it difficult to read. It was story that was interesting to read that lead to the writing of the recipes; however I think it could have been done with help from someone who has the time to give it the attention of details.

** I received a complimentary copy of this book as a member of the Dorrance Publishing Book Review Team. I was not give this a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
